This website will mostly be about genealogy for now, as that is currently my main interest. Eventually it may include some of the other things that I'm interested in.

I have been interested in genealogy for quite a while. Probably about 10 years or so. It is a way for me to connect to my past, my family history and culture and for future generations who may be interested.

I was born in the Netherlands but moved to Canada with my immediate family more than 30 years ago. It has been difficult to find information as all my extended family is still in the Netherlands. So information gathering was done by letter. Needless to say, I did not get a lot of information that way. I also tried finding information on the internet, but that was even less successful. This was probably due to a combination of not really knowing what I was doing and that there wasn't much information available on the internet at that time. I didn't really find any information (other than what my family members could remember) until about a year ago. Then I started finding lots and it has kept me very busy since.

There is very little primary-source research. It is largely compiled from on-line archives and from the research of others (mostly as published on their websites). Some of the sources have been very reliable, but there have been others that have not. I've tried to do my best to sort it all out and reconcile conflicting information. This is a work in progress and there will undoubtedly be some inaccuracies due to input error on my part or inaccuracy or confusion at the source. Please feel free to advise me of any errors or omissions.

Information about living people or those presumed to be so, has been ommitted to protect their privacy. They will only be listed as "private male" or "private female".
